Terms and Conditions of Entry
Entrants agree that a condition of entry is to accept that Monster Racing and their sponsors cannot be held responsible for any injury or loss, however caused. Entrants are fully aware of the risks involved and the degree of fitness required to take part. Triathlon / Duathlon / Multisport / Running Events are a demanding sport and agree that they are fully capable of completing the event. Open Water swimming, in particular, has various hazards. Whilst Monster Racing have worked to reduce these they cannot be totally removed.
All Monster Racing triathlon / duathlon events take place in accordance with the British Triathlon Federation rules with regard to competitions and the conduct required of athletes. All Monster Racing running events take place in accordance with the UK Athletics rules with regard to competitions and the conduct required of athletes. Any breach of the rules may result in the entrant being disqualified from this and further Monster Racing events, without refund. By entering this event the entrant agrees to abide by those rules. When on public roads the Highway Code is applicable, even when racing, entrants agree to adhere to the instructions of the Highway Code.
Triathlons & Duathlons
Duathlon and Sprint distance: Entrants must 16 years and over as at 31st December 2017 and must provide written parental consent to race, if under 18 at 31st December 2017.
Standard distances: Entrants must at least 17 years old and over as at 31st December 2017 and must provide written parental consent to race, if under 18 at 31st December 2017.
Middle distances: Entrants must be at least 19 years old as of 31st December 2017 and register their own details.
Half Marathon: Entrants must be 16 years and over as at 31st December 2017 and must provide written parental consent to race, if under 18 at 31st December 2017.
Marathon: Entrant must be 18 years and over as at the event date and register their own details.
Ultra: Entrant must 20 years and over as at the event date and register their own details.
Ambit: Entrant must be 18 years and over as at the event date and register their own details.
Triathlons & Duathlons Specific:
Duathlon and Sprint distances: Any bike is permitted.
Standard and Middle distances: Only Road Bikes, Hybrid and TT Bikes are permitted to race. Athletes arriving at the event with Off Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes or equivalent will not be permitted to race.
Entrants agree that their bike is road worthy and agree that the wearing of a helmet is mandatory.
The wearing of wetsuits in triathlon is governed by British Triathlon rules and is totally dependent on water temperature one hour before the start of the race. Please see the BTF Rule Book for further clarification.
Running Events Specific:
Entrants must have previously completed a marathon event; consider themselves a competent runner and capable of completing the challenge. Anybody unsure about this challenge should contact the Monster Racing team. This event is a serious undertaking and entering it should be done so only by those capable of completing the distance within the time limits proscribed. If you have any doubts about your ability to do this, then you should not enter this year. If you have any medical conditions these should be brought to the attention of the race director. We suggest that entrants with an on-going medical condition consult their GP or a medical professional prior to entering.
We require all entrants to carry a waterproof jacket and mobile phone – these will be checked at registration and at any time during the race. No waterproof jacket and mobile = no race.
Entrants take part on the understanding that it is a strenuous 24hr race that involves running at night and when tired. They must understand the risks and be confident that they can complete the challenge.
Entrants understand that their personal details will be stored on computer. Entrants understand that their name, age group (if applicable) and gender will appear on the public list of competitors for an event when they enter that event. Entrants understand and accept that images/footage taken at the Monster Racing events may be used for publicity.
Monster Racing may be approached by the sport’s governing body for the personal details of the entrants entered into events. For example, if you are not a member already, they may need to know about you so that you can be insured by them. Monster Racing will not pass entrant details onto anybody except the governing body (BTF / UKA) or other authorities, such as UKAD.
Any entrant found to be serving a banning period from any sport that has signed up to the World Anti-Doping Agency code is also banned from triathlon, their entry will be barred without refund. Monster Racing fully supports the UK Anti-Doping; sport should be pursued for enjoyment and be fair.
Entrants understand that in the event of a withdrawal from any event they will be subject to the Monster Racing withdrawal policy.
Monster Racing reserve the right to make changes to the event for safety reasons without giving notice.
If Monster Racing are forced to cancel the event for reasons beyond their control, competitors will be given the option to enter the same race which will be rescheduled to a date as close to the original date as possible. Alternatively, they will be offered a full race credit to be used in future Monster Racing events.
Monster Racing reserve the right to refuse entry from any applicant, whether the originally named applicant or transferee.
