Testimonials – Marathon

Lindsay Hamilton, 1st Female, 2017:
“I thought the race was really fun – lovely rural route, nice & flat with good surfaces (fast course despite being not a city marathon!), and lovely to get so much encouragement from the marshals and the other runners! You never feel alone because of the start waves for the different distances and the out & back route. And of course an unbeatably pretty start & finish area. And a very useful medal!! (it is meant to be a bottle opener, or is that just me?!)”
Barry Taylor, 3rd Male, 2016:
“I have been chipping away trying to improve my marathon time and thought the Ely marathon route looked like a good race option. I never thought I’d be fast enough to finish 4th overall and win the 3rd male trophy knocking over 16 minutes off my PB!! Thanks for a great, friendly and well organised run.”
Paula Downing, 1st Female, 2016:
“A great well organized trail marathon. The marshals were in the places I needed them most! A beautiful route and friendly atmosphere. Hope to be back next year, maybe the ultra…”
Sam Lewsey, 1st Female, 2015:
“Fantastic race: low-key, friendly and very very supportive. And I can’t think of a more inspiring location for a race HQ!”
Martyn Taylor, 2nd Male, 2014:
“After experiencing such a friendly atmosphere and support from my fellow runners The ECF Monster Run Fest will definitely be taking up a slot within my race calendar for 2015. This was my first podium finish in a marathon (hopefully not my only one, though I suspect it could be!) and what better setting could I have stood on the 2nd step than in front of Ely cathedral. The only decision left to make is whether I step up to the ultra or not for 2015!!!”
